How to use the design calculator:
1. Input the cubic feet of storage required. Press Enter.
2. Change the stone void allowed (if necessary) in decimals. This will normally be .40. Press Enter.
3. Determine the stone configuration in the left hand column. The standard configuration is 6" above & below.
4. Change the trench depth in feet (if necessary). Press Enter. If the number of chambers wide times the number of chambers long does not equal the number of chambers in the second column, the number of chambers listed in the second column is the correct number.
5. Enter an approximate number of chambers wide. Press Enter. The number of chambers long will automatically be displayed. Adjust the number of chambers wide to obtain the desired trench dimensions. Data for the rest of the row will be automatically provided. For stacked configurations, simply calculate for one half of the storage in each of the two layers, with the top layer at 90 degrees to the bottom layer.
NOTE: If you divide the total cubic feet of storage required by the designed storage capacity of 115 cf per chamber, it does not equal the number of chambers shown in the StormChamber design calculator because the calculator also takes into account the additional storage in the one foot border of stone around the system.
